NGL Response to COVID-19
Here you can find all the changes NGL made to our services in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and academic changes at SHSU.

Due Dates of Checked-out Materials
Graduate and undergraduate student checkouts are currently due 28 days after checkout. Faculty checkouts are due the first day of the next semester.
Checking Out SHSU Materials
SHSU faculty, staff, and currently enrolled students have two options for borrowing material:
- PICK-UP: Find books in the library's online catalog and use the "Place Hold" option to request the book. When it is ready, you'll receive an email. When it is ready, you'll receive an email with instructions to pick up the book at the First-floor Help Desk in the Newton Gresham Library. Limited-contact procedures will be followed during pick-ups for everyone's safety.
- DISTANCE LEARNING SERVICES: Place book, chapter, or article requests in the ILLiad system. Books will be delivered to the preferred location set in your ILLiad profile; articles or chapters will be scanned and delivered electronically.
Returning SHSU Materials
Users have four options for returning SHSU books (see below for returning ILL books):
- An outside book drop is available at the northeast corner of the main library building (big blue box on the patio, just above the stairs from the parking lot).
- An inside book drop is available at the main service desk in the second floor lobby during the hours of library operation.
- Books may be returned to the library services desk in the computer lab (room 315) at SHSU-The Woodlands Center Monday-Friday 8-5.
- You may drop off a package, labeled with the library address below, at KatPost on Sam Houston Avenue, and it will be delivered via Campus Mail (no cost).
- You may mail books back to the library via USPS library book rate with tracking using the address below. (Please write "Campus Box", NOT PO Box.)

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
ILL materials can be shipped to your home address.
Please bear with ILL staff as they process requests for your items. Even in Spring 2021, many Universities and Libraries still have not resumed lending due to COVID-19. This is causing a delayed response time to orders and some items may be unavailable completely. We will continue to work with you to get you the research you need.
Returning ILL Books
DO NOT use book drop to return ILL materials borrowed from other libraries.
ILL books may be returned in the following ways:
- Books may be returned to the ILL Office in Room 104 of the main library.
- Books may be returned to the library services desk in the computer lab (room 315) at SHSU-The Woodlands Center Monday-Friday 8-5.
- You may drop off a package, labeled with the library address below, at KatPost on Sam Houston Avenue, and it will be delivered via Campus Mail (no cost).

Library Instruction

Free Instructional Materials
Some publishers/vendors have made their instructional materials available for free to help moving courses online. We have put together a list of online (free) resources for instructional needs.
