Reference Services
Phone, "online chat" and e-mail assistance is available from the Reference Department to help answer brief, factual questions, or to suggest sources or locations which might help provide the needed information. The Virtual Reference Desk is available every hour the Library is open; when the Librarian is not available to respond, you can e-mail your question and someone will respond as quickly as possible. When seeking assistance by phone, please identify yourself as a registered user of NGL's Distance Learning Services, with the following information:
- Name
- SHSU ID Number
- Home Address
- Course Title and Instructor
Library Instruction Services
Librarians are available to give presentations, which emphasize research methods and how to use the resources provide by the university library (NGL). Presently this service is available on the SHSU campus and at The University Center. Instructors can make arrangements for library instruction by contacting the Reference Desk, by phone at (936) 294-1614 or 1-800-NGL-INFO (645-4636), or by email at lib_ref@shsu.edu. The librarian at The University Center also provides instruction; call (936) 273-7562.
