Tips to Get the Most Out of Engine Orange

  • Always put quotation marks around exact phrases, including exact titles.
    • Example: "global warming"
    • Example: "To Kill a Mockingbird"

  • Searching for a title (book, article, or otherwise) and not finding the results you expect? Try removing punctuation from the title (especially question marks and exclamation points) and then re-do your search.

  • After searching, use the options on the left to narrow your search results:
    • Example: Use Source Type to focus just on books or academic journal articles.
    • Other useful options for limiting your search include date and subject.

  • Check the box for Scholarly (Peer-Reviewed) Journals when your assignment calls specifically for this type of research material.
